WHEN TO GO
Day 1
Lake Manyara National Park
Next morning after your Kilimanjaro climb, set out to Lake Manyara National Park to search for East Africa’s legendary wildlife amid the stunning Rift Valley landscape.
Regardless of the small size, the park offers plenty of wildlife for time-crunched travelers. Manyara has excellent game densities and is best known for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of olive baboon and blue monkeys, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, and zebra as well as a 300 hundred different bird species.
Day 2
Ngorongoro Crater
The largest intact caldera in the world, the Ngorongoro Crater shelters over 30,000 animals, making this one of the few places in Africa where you stand a high chance of seeing all Big Five in one day. It is an area of spectacular beauty and excellent game viewing, a truly unique safari destination in Africa.
Descend 2,000 feet to the crater’s floor and observe the interactions of predators and prey; spot colorful bird-life and track elephants, rare black rhino, cheetah, big cats, and more.
Day 3
Tarangire National Park
Your safari continues to baobab-covered plains of Tarangire National Park.
Tarangire is a lovely, quiet park, most famous for its elephant migration, birding, and authentic safari atmosphere. Elephants are the main attraction, with up to 3,000 in the park during the peak months. Peak season also sees good numbers of wildebeest and zebra as well as giraffe, buffalo, Thompson’s gazelle, greater and lesser kudu, eland, lion, leopard, and cheetah.
Day 4
Arusha – Kilimanjaro Airport
Enjoy a final morning of wildlife viewing before driving to Arusha.
Spend time visiting a local arts collective or relax in your day room before your international flight home.
After dinner transfer to Kilimanjaro airport to meet your home-bound flight.
