Our Kilimanjaro porters are the lifeline up the mountain. Without the dedicated efforts of our hard-working porters, Mt. Kilimanjaro would just be a pretty picture postcard in the distance. It's a big job keeping the trek comfortable and well-supplied. You may not realize it, but for a group of ten climbers, there are over 50 crew members working both in front and behind the scenes to ensure success. Their contributions are invaluable, and we deeply respect their efforts in ensuring our trekkers' comfort and safety.
Regrettably, mistreatment of porters is rampant on the mountain, as they are often exploited by budget climbing outfits.

From our inception, Barking Zebra has been unwavering in our commitment to treating our mountain crews with respect and improving their living standards. This commitment is not just a promise; it's a part of our identity. We believe that fair treatment is the foundation of ethical practices. Our porters earn the top wages and guarantee their full pay if a member of the team must descend early.

Recognizing the demanding conditions on Kilimanjaro, we ensure that our crew is properly nourished and take great care to equip our porters with appropriate clothing, gear, and comfortable tents.
Additionally, we extend our support by arranging reliable transportation for our dedicated teams to and from the mountain.

We're proud to be part of the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP), a group dedicated to setting and overseeing ethical standards for porters, aiming to enhance their treatment throughout the industry.
